‘A Tale of Two Accordions’ brings musical fusion to New Ulm

NEW ULM – State Street Theater Co. is thrilled to present two bands for the price of one.

“Alpensterne & Los Rebeldes Presents: A Tale of Two Accordions” 2 p.m. April 27.

This concert brings together two bands from different musical traditions– Alpensterne and Los Rebeldes –for afternoon of music, culture, and collaboration.

Alpensterne, known for their authentic German folk sound, brings an entirely different flair. Fronted by Jim Strehlke and featuring his signature yodeling, the band includes master accordionist Eric Ray and Strehlke’s sons Aleks and Erich, who keep the family tradition alive with vocals and yodeling.

Los Rebeldes blends traditional Mexican Conjunto music with a modern twist. With accordion, trumpet, and guitar at the forefront, the group honors their cultural roots while connecting with new audiences. As a dynamic, multigenerational band led by members of the Cardona family, Los Rebeldes delivers a vibrant and energetic performance that’s impossible not to dance along to.

Both bands will take the stage together for a cross-cultural collaboration that celebrates music’s universal language.

Tickets for the show are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; children 12 and under are $5. A $1 system processing fee applies to each ticket to ensure a seamless reservation experience. Tickets are available at the State Street Theater Co. Box Office from 9 am to noon, Monday through Friday, on the website at StateStreetNewUlm.org, via phone at (507)-359-9990, and at the door.
