Lions Club Donates to Quilters
The Lions Club of New Ulm recently donated $500 to the Washington School Quilters. This money will be used to purchase fabric, yarn, batting, needles, clamps and other supplies. This all voluntary group meets twice a month to make and tie quilts for donation in space provided for them at the Washington Learning Center. The Washington School Quilters work directly with Family Services to help identify those in need.
In December, they donated 46 quilts. Six were to Adopt a Families, 10 to Head Start and 8 each to Ivy House and First Choice Pregnancy Center. They also donated quilts to military veterans and to a family that had a fire. In addition, they donate to fund raisers as the need arises and make pillows for Heart to Home. They have also received donations from Thimble Box in the past.
The Washington School Quilters rely solely on donations to make and donate their quilts. To donate materials or cash, please contact Nancy Ginkel at 507-766-1820.
