New Ulm’s Der Deutsche Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) recently delivered 14 turkeys to the New Ulm Food Shelf.
The turkeys were purchased with funds raised at their annual Hunting Heritage Banquet. In addition to this donation, the Chapter awards a $500 scholarship to a local senior. The NWTF played a large part in the reintroduction of wild turkeys to Minnesota in years past. Through the local chapter, they continue to be a major funding and volunteer source for the preservation and enhancement of habitat for wild turkeys, and all wildlife in the state.
The club announced the date and a new location for the 2024 Hunting Heritage Banquet. It will be held February 3, 2024, at the Courtland Town Hall. Use the new Highway 14 and exit to Courtland. The hall is one block east at 300 Railroad Street. To get more information, contact Chapter President Jay Haun at 507-766-1242.
