Phil Thompson to perform “Billy & Elton: The Hits” at State Street Theater

NEW ULM — Internationally acclaimed pop pianist, vocalist, and Kawai-endorsed touring artist Phil Thompson will perform a night of Billy Joel and Elton John’s biggest hits on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m at State Street Theater Co., 1 North State Street, New Ulm.

Thompson will perform best-known hits including “Bennie & The Jets,” “Your Song,” “My Life,” “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” “Rocket Man,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Movin’ Out,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Daniel,” “Only the Good Die Young,” “New York State of Mind,” and of course no piano-hits show wouldn’t be complete without “Piano Man!”

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, New Ulm Hy-Vee, and online at statestreetNEWULM.org. Tickets will also be available on the day of the performance at the door for $25. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance and handicap seating is available. Dahms, Torkelson to hold area town hall meetings

ST. PAUL — Minnesota Sen. Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) and Rep. Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska) invite area residents to their joint town hall meetings mon Monday, Jan. 6 and Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Dahms and Torkelson will hold Monday, Jan. 6 meetings at:

• Sleepy Eye Event Center, 110 12th Ave. N.E., 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.

• Springfield Community Building, 33 South Cass Ave., 9 to 10 a.m.

• Morgan Lions Community Building, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

• Redwood Falls City Council Chambers, City Hall, 333 South Washington St., 1 to 2 p.m.

• Hanska Community Center, 201 Broadway, 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

• New Ulm Pizza Ranch, 1927 S. Broadway, 6 to 7 p.m.

Heartland Express closed Jan. 1
