Call for Artists for ArtScape Juried Art Show

NEW ULM — The Grand Center for Arts and Culture is looking for artists to take part in the 11th annual ArtScape Juried Art Show.

Submissions can be dropped off Saturday, Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at The Grand Center for Arts and Culture in New Ulm. Each artist can have up to three submissions.

The accepted works will be posted by Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 9 p.m. at www.thegrandnewulm.com.

This exhibit will be open to the public from Dec. 6 to Jan. 3. An opening reception will be held Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. and voting for People’s Choice will begin.

New Ulm Community Thanksgiving Dinner

NEW ULM — The Community Friends will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in New Ulm.

Volunteers for this event will be needed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Delivery requests need to made on or before Tuesday, Nov. 26. Everyone is welcome, no reservations are necessary.

Redeemer Lutheran LWML Annual Christmas Bazaar and Luncheon

NEW ULM — Redeemer Lutheran Church will be hosting its annual Christmas Bazaar and Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

New this year, people can pre-order cut out cookies if you are not able to make it the the bazaar. Call Cindy Stabenow at 612-418-5298 or email redeemerlwml@newulmtel.net with how many dozen you want with your contact information by Saturday, Nov. 30.

Annual Men’s Ham Dinner Sunday at St. Mary’s

NEW ULM — The men of St. Mary’s are hosting the 32nd annual Men’s Ham Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary’s in New Ulm.

The menu includes ham, coleslaw, corn, potatoes, ice cream and a variety of beverages. Take outs will be avaible. The price for adults will be $12, and the price for children (age 14 and under) will be $5.

Minnesota River Congress Takes Up Water Storage

MANKATO — The 13th full session of the Minnesota River Congress has designated water storage on the land as its primary focus over the next several years. They will be taking public input on the initiative on this Thursday Nov. 21 at the Kato Ballroom, 200 Chestnut St., Mankato starting at 7 p.m.

The public is welcome, and all interested are invited to attend. A presentation on a recently released book about the river called “For Love of a River, The Minnesota” by Darby Nelson will take place as well.

Golden Age Christmas Bingo Party on Dec. 2

NEW ULM — The Golden Age Club is holding its Christmas Bingo Party at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at the New Ulm Community Center. A $7 ticket includes two Bingo cards and a chicken dinner.

Tickets are available from Golden Age Board members, Myrtle (354-5688), MaryLee (217-9668, Carol (354-8664) and Joleen (354-4258). Tickets must be purchased by Nov. 28.

Wanda Gag House Annual Meeting Thursday, Nov. 21

NEW ULM — The Annual Meeting of the Wanda Gag House Association will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m., at the Gag house located at 226 North Washington Street, New Ulm.

At 5 p.m. refreshments will be served. The 1/4 scale model of the Wanda Gag Sculpture by Jason Jaspersen , donated by Charlotte Anderson, will be available for viewing along with the recently purchased and framed Flavia Gag painting “Apartment on 16th Street near Washington Square.” Everyone is welcome. Meeting will begin at 6 p.m. promptly.

Nicollet Community Blood Drive

NICOLLET — The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on Monday, Dec. 9 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the American Legion in Nicollet.
