Live music Sunday at Schell’s

NEW ULM — The August Schell Brewery Biergarten will be open on Sunday, with live music from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

This Sunday Jim Strehlke and Alpensterne will be entertaining.

The Bier Garten is open daily from noon-5 p.m., but live music is on Sundays only.

Independence Day at the Harkin Store

WEST NEWTON — Celebrate Independence Day a few days early with the New Ulm Battery at the Historic Harkin Store. The New Ulm Battery will fire their 1862 cannon every half hour, and visitors can explore the general store, play checkers, and relax on the front porch.

Admission is $4 to 6. Minnesota Historical Society members admitted free.

The Harkin Store is located nine miles west of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21.

Kiesling House open this weekend

NEW ULM — The historic Kiesling House will be open Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Discover how the young Kiesling family and their modest home survived the US-Dakota War of 1862. Operated by the Brown County Historical Society.

Admission is $3. BCHS members and children under 5 are free.

Fur Trader Program at the Kiesling House

NEW ULM — The historic Kiesling House will host a presentation on The Life of a Fur-Trader on Sunday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. Alex Kruger, the BCHS intern from Minnesota State University/Mankato, will give a talk on the lifestyle, challenges and opportunities faced by early fur-traders in the territory.

Located at 220 N. Minnesota St, the presentation will be held in the downstairs meeting room of the Kiesling House. Please use the lower, back entrance. A

dmission $3 or free for BCHS members and children under 5.

The Kiesling House is open weekends 1-4pm through Labor Day and operated by the Brown County Historical Society.
