Fenske Tribute Nov. 11

NEW ULM — Christa Bohlmann and the Hootenanny Annies will be entertaining at the Bruce and Barb Fenske Tribute Cabaret on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the State Street Theater in New Ulm.

Sponsored by five of the many organizations with which the Fenskes were involved, the evening starts with a 5:30 p.m. social hour, appetizers from Gutes Essen, and the music program starting at 6:30. A cash wine and beer bar will be available. Tickets are available at the New Ulm Chamber/Visitors Center at $25 per person, or by mail no later than November 7th at PO Box 493, New Ulm, MN. 56073, checks payable to SST-Fenske Tribute, or contact Mary Ellen Domeier at 276-7890. The public is invited. Due to limited seating, there will be no ticket sales at the door.

The five sponsoring non-profit organizations are ISD 88 Foundation, New Ulm Area Foundation, New Ulm Medical Center Foundation, Oak Hills Memorial Foundation and the State Street Theater Capital Campaign. The children and siblings of Barb and Bruce will be in attendance.

Free showing of new Luther movie

NEW ULM — St. Paul’s and St John’s Lutheran churches, along with Martin Luther College invite the New Ulm community to a complimentary showing of the movie “A Return to Grace” at the MLC Auditorium on Monday, November 6 at 7:45 p.m.

Commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, the film tells the story of Martin Luther.

Tickets may be picked up at the MLC reception desk, St. John’s, St. Paul’s, or the Chamber of Commerce.

ECFE gym night tonight

NEW ULM — Have children who need to run off some extra energy? Join us for ECFE Family Gym Night. Family Gym Night provides an indoor space for kids to scooter, jump, play ball, use riding toys, and lots more. Join us at the Washington Learning Center from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. This is a free family event.

SD 16 DFL candidate Meet and Greet

REDWOOD FALLS — Minnesota District 16 House candidates for the 2018 mid-term election, Tom Wyatt-Yerka of Marshall and Marinda Kimmel of New Ulm will hold a meet and greet at The Tables, 126 E 2nd St in Redwood Falls on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 5-8 p.m. Meet the candidates and let them hear from you.

Early Childhood Screening

NEW ULM — Early Childhood Screening is scheduled for Monday, Nov 13th and Monday, Dec. 11.

Screening is available to any child who is between the ages of 3 years and Kindergarten. During screening children will participate in an evaluation of speech, language, fine and gross motor skills, behavioral, social and emotional development, hearing and vision, height and weight measurement, immunization recording, and a parental question and answer period.

Screening is free of charge and is required entrance into Eagle’s Preschool, Headstart, and Kindergarten. Early Childhood Screening will be held at the Washington Learning Center, 910 14th Street North. Appointments will be 90 minutes long. Walk-ins cannot be accomodated. St.George Brunch, Bake Sale on Nov. 12

NEW ULM — The St. George CCW Brunch and Bake Sale will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 at the parish center in rural New Ulm.

Brunch begins at 9:30 a.m. -12:30pm and is an A la Carte menu featuring ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade german potato salad and sauerkraut and hamburger spaetzle soup. Fruit cup and desserts complete the meal.

A bake sale is also part of this event and will have homemade smierkuchen as well as many other sweet treats for purchase.

ECFE story night at the Library

NEW ULM — ECFE and the New Ulm Public Library will host story time for parents and their preschoolers. Each session will include stories, simple activities, and a free book for each child to take home courtesy of an anonymous donor in our community. Parents and their preschoolers can come on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the New Ulm Public Library. This is a free family event.
