Egg coloring event

NEW ULM — United Church of Christ (UCC), 301 South MInnesota St., is holding an Easter Egg coloring event on Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon This is a free event for kids of all ages. All supplies will be provided.

ECFE Bedtime Stories

NEW ULM — ECFE and the New Ulm Public Library are hosting their last Bedtime Stories of the year on Wednesday, April 12, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Parents and their preschoolers are invited to join us at the New Ulm Public Library for story time followed by some simple activities. Each child will receive a free book to take home courtesy of an anonymous donor in our community.

This is a free family event.

Legion serving Made Rights

NEW ULM — The American Legion Club in New Ulm will be serving Made Rights on Saturday, April 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or until gone.

Brown County Farmers Union

ESSIG — The Brown County Farmers Union will hold a meeting on 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, Carl’s Corner, Essig.

Special guest speaker will be Brown County Commissioner Tony Berg.

Library fun for everyone

NEW ULM — New Ulm Public Library has something for all ages this Saturday, April 8.

At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday Cinema will be held in the Children’s Room. The family friendly film, sponsored by the Optimist Club of New Ulm, is rated PG and runs 1 hour, 41 minutes. Call 507-359-8336 for the title.

The library’s Silent Book Group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants read whatever they want, and we’ll break at 11:15 a.m. to socialize. Quiet reading time will be enforced, and refreshments will be provided.

Palm Sunday Breakfast

NEW ULM — St. Mary’s Church in New Ulm is hosting a Palm Sunday Brunch from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 9.

The menu includes ham, smokies, scrambled eggs, german potato salad, sweet rolls, cheesecakes, desserts and beverages.

Adult tickets are $9, children ages 4 to 12 are $5, and ages 4 and under eat for free. There will also be a raffle of Spring & Easter items and a bake sale.

Educators: Social Justice Seminar Opportunity

MINNEAPOLIS — The Holocaust and the Meaning of Place, an inaugural Minnesota Holocaust Educators Network Seminar, will be held from July 30 to Aug. 5 at the University of Minnesota.

Sponsored by The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights, and supported by the Minnesota Writing Project, the seminar is free of charge to participants. Attendees will explore lessons and activities for teaching about the Holocaust and Minnesota’s Dakota exile through personal testimonies and place-based experiences, including day trips to Mount Zion Temple and historic Dakota sites, such as Bdote, New Ulm and Mankato.

Participants will receive copies of relevant texts, the Echoes & Reflections curriculum, 55 continuing education units, and a $100 stipend. Attendees will also be eligible to apply for classroom mini-grants of up to $1,000 following completion of the seminar.
