NU area Scouting for Food efforts lead the way

NEW ULM — New Ulm area Scouting for Food efforts topped the Twin Valley Council area last weekend with 16,561 pounds of food collected. “This is the highest amount amount of food collected in New Ulm and surrounding communities since 2020,” said Scouting America Twin Valley Council Field Director Erik Karre. He said Brown County project efforts included $1,195 in cash donations. The New Ulm area Scouting for Food effort included 52 volunteers who worked 94 hours. NU School District looking at deep cuts

NEW ULM – The New Ulm School Board took a hard look at its options for budget reductions over the next years during a special work session. For the third year in a row, New Ulm Public School is looking at a budget deficit forcing the school board to make cuts. In the 2026-2027 school year, the school district is looking at a $900,000 deficit. This deficit is expected to grow to $2 million by 2027-2028.
