Easter events set for Friday, Saturday
Easter egg hunt at Harman Park Saturday

NEW ULM — Just in time for Good Friday, a new sign was installed at the Way of the Cross Wednesday.
Funded by the Knights of Columbus, private donations and memorials, the new sign replaces a smaller, yellow sign that pointed to the shrine of the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm.
“City of New Ulm Park & Recreation staff said many visitors to New Ulm did not see the smaller sign, so we decided to purchase a new, larger one,” said Way of the Cross Chairman Gary Neubauer.
The Rev. Chad Zielinski, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm, will lead a public prayer and meditation at the 14 Stations of the Cross at the Way of the Cross at 3 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3 (weather permitting). In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in The Cathedral.
The shrine includes a grotto and a small chapel. In 2020, the Way of the Cross Shrine was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of Interior.
Other Friday events include the Bunny Hop 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Woodstone Senior Living, 2020 Meyer Drive. The egg hunt begins at 10 a.m.
The New Ulm Park and Rec Eggstavaganza will be held 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Recreation Center, 122 S. Garden St. Children age six and up will hunt for eggs and prizes around the pool. All children receive a goody bag. The Aqua Easter Bunny will be available for photos.
Other Saturday events include the New Ulm Park and Rec Annual Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. near the back of the Harman Park shelter. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the New Ulm Civic Center south arena. Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available.
The August Schell Brewing Company Easter Egg Hoppy Hunt is scheduled for 1-2 p.m. No less than 600 eggs will be hidden at the brewery grounds. Up three eggs can be redeemed for prizes. Ten golden eggs will be well hidden for a chance to win larger prizes. Photo opportunities will be available.
A Fairfax Community Easter Egg Party starts at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church or in Prairie Lutheran School in case of inclement weather. Easter Bunny photos, games and pancake breakfast follow the egg hunt.
The Hanska Easter Egg Hunt and Coloring Contest begins at 10 a.m. at the Hanska Community Center. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Coloring sheets can be picked up at Sister Sweets Bakery, the Hanska Library and the Hanska C Store.
The Sleepy Eye Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10 a.m. at Allison Park. Special guests include the Easter Bunny and Miss Sleepy Eye royalty. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Sleepy Eye Event Center.
