County minimum elected official salaries set

Due to state law requirements each election year

NEW ULM — Brown County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution setting minimum salaries for elected officials Tuesday.

Minnesota law requires the county board to set minimum salaries every four years, in the year in which an election takes place.

Minimum salaries approved were $71,864 for county recorder, $126,630 for county attorney, and $117,083 for county sheriff.

Brown County Administrator Sam Hansen said the minimum salaries in the approved county salary administration plan for each position are considered by job candidates that may apply for the positions.

Approval of the county attorney minimum salary came on a motion by Commissioner Jeff Veerkamp, seconded by Scott Windschitl; for county recorder motion by Veerkamp, seconded by Brian Braun; and for county sheriff motion by Commissioner Tony Berg, seconded by Veerkamp.

Starting at $4.50/week.
