NUEA spruces up downtown for the holidays
Members of the New Ulm Education Association (NUEA) gather in the A to Zinnia parking lot with a trailer full of Christmas trees, Sunday. The volunteers with NUEA have placed Christmas trees in New Ulm's downtown for over 35 years.
NEW ULM – Members of the New Ulm Education Association (NUEA) and their families helped to decorate downtown New Ulm for the Holidays, Sunday.
Members or NUEA helped the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce placed 60 live Christmas trees in planters along Minnesota Street. This year’s trees were provided by A to Zinnia.
NUEA president Anita Longtin said it is an over 35 years tradition that the teacher’s union would decorate the downtown Minnesota Street. It took roughly an hour for the volunteers to place all the trees.
“It is wonderful tradition,” Longtin said. “This is a great way to give back to the community and show our support.”
