Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a one-vehicle injury crash reported at 10:58 p.m. Saturday on Highway 14 near 225th Avenue, Home Township, Brown County. A 17-year-old was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 4, entered the ditch and rolled. He wore a seat belt and was transported to Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Sleepy Eye Ambulance and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

New Ulm Police

• Reported a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 4:34 p.m. Saturday at Broadway and 17th South Street. A 2018 Buick Enclave driven by Carl Roland Kiewatt, 87, Mankato, crossed Broadway from McDonald’s to a thrift store across the street when it collided with a 2014 Jeep Wranger driven southbound by Ryan Timothy Grunke, 31, New Ulm. Damage was moderate to both vehicles. Both drivers wore seat belts.

• Responded to a report of a fight captured on cell phone video at German Park, 200 German St. North at 7:36 p.m. Friday involving 11 and 14-year-old New Ulm boys. A report went to Brown County Probation and the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct against the 14-year-old. No medical attention was sought.

• Responded to an assault report at Traulich Estates, 2201 N. Broadway at 1 p.m. Saturday. It was reported a nine-year-old hit a six-year-old across the back of the head with a PVC pipe. Due to the age of the individuals, criminal charges were not pursued but a report went to Brown County Human Services. No medical attention was sought.

• Took a theft report at Walmart at 4:15 p.m. Saturday involving a man on a mobility scooter who tried to use an EBT card but payment was declined for $73.70 worth of merchandise. The man remains unidentified.

• Responded to Walmart for a report of three males involved in a theft exiting the store at 7:40 p.m Saturday. Officers located the stolen merchandise, four wristwatches with a total value of $361.99 in a vehicle in the parking lot. A 16-year-old New Ulm boy was cited for theft and open bottle. A 25-year-old New Ulm man was cited for theft.

• Took a report of a 54-year-old New Ulm man bitten by a Doberman at 9:04 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of Franklin St. South. The man, also the dog’s owner, had a hand injury but did not seek medical attention. He said the dog’s vaccinations are current.

• Officers came upon two males from Wisconsin and one from Arizona running from a squad car near Center St. and Hazelwood Ave. 2:53 a.m. Sunday. They were all cited for underage alcohol consumption.

• Responded to detox at 7:41 a.m. Sunday for a 19-year-old Mankato man who escaped and got into a black Kia. Officers stopped the vehicle but the suspect was not in it. The driver, a 45-year-old Minneapolis man, was arrested for driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety. Later in the day, Mankato Public Safety located the detox escapee and transported him to the Blue Earth County Jail. A report for consideration of driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office. A copy was sent to the county attorney for escape from custody against the Mankato man.

• Officers talked to a 64-year-old Franklin man with a cancelled driver’s license-inimical to public safety at the law enforcement center at 11:04 a.m. Sunday. Video surveillance showed the man driving to the law enforcement center. He was taken to jail. A report went to the city attorney’s office.

• Responded to a physical domestic report Sunday involving a 17-year-old New Ulm boy and 16-year-old New Ulm girl in which he covered her mouth, causing her to have difficult breathing. The boy was arrested and transported to New Ulm Medical Center for mental health concerns. No injuries were involved. Reports went to the county attorney for consideration of domestic assault-strangulation and to Brown County Human Services and CADA (Committee Against Domestic Assault).

Brown County Sheriff’s Office

• Arrested a 38-year-old Searles man after domestic incident with his girlfriend, a 49-year-old woman at 11:12 p.m. Friday. The woman was transported to New Ulm Medical Center. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail.
