GIBBON — A 54-year-old man died after being struck by a truck on County Road 2 just south of Gibbon early Friday morning.

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a person being hit by a vehicle at 2:36 a.m. Friday. Dino John Bastian, 54, Gibbon, was walking south on the road when he was struck by a 2016 Chevy Colorado driven by Timothy Jon Ahlbrecht and died, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

According to the sheriff’s Office, Bastian was found deceased at the scene when sheriff’s office staff arrived. Front-end vehicle damage was moderate. Gibbon Rescue, Winthrop Ambulance, Five Star Towing and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted.

The incidenty is under investigation.
