Nicollet School Board OKs proposal to seek voter referendum
NICOLLET — The Nicollet School Board unanimously approved a motion Wednesday to move forward with a voter referendum to approve a $288,000 operation levy and a $7.6 million capital bond.
The action gives superintendent Robin Courrier permission to submit the proposal to the Minnesota Education Commissioner for review and approval.
ISD 507 will then ask voters to approve two ballot questions on Tuesday, Nov 4. Ballot question 1 is the operating levy referendum request, and question 2, which is contingent on approval of question 1, is the school building bond request.
If the referendum is successful, construction will begin Spring of 2026, continue over two summers, and is expected to be completed by Fall of 2027.
The School Board motion marks the end of a year-long strategic planning program managed by Rob Brown of Nexus Solutions, involving multiple stakeholders in the Nicollet Public School system.
