Fireworks over Sleepy Eye Lake
SLEEPY EYE – The annual 4th of July fireworks display began at 10 p.m. Friday evening over Sleepy Eye Lake. Hundreds gathered along the lake shore in Allison Park, Sportsman’s Park and the bicycle path to watch the fireworks. In past years, the fireworks were launched from a dock near Allison Park. This year’s fireworks were launched from a boat anchored at the center of the lake.
The weather was clear for the fireworks, with a slight cloud cover. A storm would move into the region a few hours after the fireworks. The rain brought a reprieve to the heat.
