NEW ULM – Sunday, Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School (MVL) held its 2025 commencement ceremony in the school’s Fine Arts Center, marking a significant milestone for the graduating seniors and their families.

The ceremony was a heartfelt celebration of academic achievement and spiritual growth, reflecting MVL’s commitment to providing a Christ-centered education. Graduates were honored for their hard work and dedication, with many planning to pursue further education or vocational paths that align with their faith and values.

Family members, friends, and faculty gathered to witness the graduates receive their diplomas, offering hugs, handshakes, and words of encouragement. The event featured speeches from school leaders and student representatives, highlighting the accomplishments of the Class of 2025 and the supportive community that has guided them.

Class speakers Drew Witte and Claire Woller shared personal reflections that resonated with the crowd. Drew Witte opened his speech by thanking his teachers, family, friends, and most importantly, his Lord and Savior. He brought humor and insight to the stage by referencing the movies Moneyball and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, drawing parallels between their messages and the unpredictability and value of life’s journey.

Claire Woller offered a heartfelt reflection on her high school experience, walking listeners through her journey from freshman year to now. She recalled the advice someone once gave her: “Take time and enjoy it–it goes fast.” Claire admitted that, during her early years, high school felt more draining and exhausting than fleeting. But as time passed, she found meaning in the small moments, the friendships, and the shared memories that bonded the class.

“From classmates to friends, we went through it all together,” she said. “For better or worse, we found out who we were. Now it’s time to figure out who we are–on our own.”

As the graduates embark on their next chapters, they carry the lessons and experiences gained at MVL, ready to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
