New Ulm recognized as one of best managed cities in Minnesota
Featured in Business View Magazine again this year
NEW ULM — The City of New Ulm will be recognized again this year in Business View Magazine as one of the best managed cities in Minnesota.
Last year, the magazine featured New Ulm in it’s “American Economic Resilience: Minnesota” series, highlighting New Ulm’s strong leadership, strategic planning, and community-centered growth.
New Ulm was described as “a unique city, blending progress and tradition and the most German city in America.”
The story mentioned the EDA grant program offering $7,500 to start-up businesses, helping many new enterprises establish themselves in New Ulm.
This year, the magazine will provide a deeper look into New Ulm’s continued success, exploring new and ongoing development projects, how the city is navigating current challenges, and how it continues to foster community engagement and attract business and investment opportunities.
New Ulm Mayor Kathleen Backer said she was very excited about New Ulm being featured again in the magazine.
“It’s really rewarding seeing such positive results for working together in a coordinated way. We’ve worked to eliminate service duplication and enhance services to those coming to New Ulm,” said Backer.
She said the City of New Ulm, New Ulm Chamber of Commerce and NUBRIC (New Ulm Business Resource & Resource Innovation Center) are really coming together, meeting monthly, talking about development opportunities as the New Ulm Partnership.
“We’ve seen developers come to New Ulm, creating projects at the former George’s Ballroom site and North Highland Ave. Walmart is putting in an $8 million redevelopment. It’s trust in the development of New Ulm,” said Backer.
“We are honored to be featured again and to share the progress we’ve made over the past year. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit and hard work of our residents, business leaders, and city staff,” said New Ulm Economic Development Authority (EDA) Director Heather Bregel.
“We’re looking forward to having the new story about New Ulm later this summer. It’s always nice to get New Ulm on the map. The magazine has 877,000 subscribers a month, so it’s seen by many people. We’re interested in getting people to know about New Ulm and to come as visitors and to live here,” she said.
New Ulm City Council President Andrea Boettger said New Ulm being featured in the magazine is a highlight.
“I think it’s a testament to the work we’re doing in the EDA and City of New Ulm. We’re fortunate to have great staff. It’s great to be recognized for what we’re doing multiple times in a row,” Boettger said.
A multi-platform digital media source, the magazine is advertised as North America’s best source of news for executives, entrepreneurs, small business owners, franchisees, and anyone else interested in current industry trends and best practices.
