New Ulm Just For Kix dancers showcased their talent and dedication at the National Together We Dance Competition in Rochester, Minnesota, from April 30 to May 4. The event brought together dance teams from across the region, including Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado and Iowa to compete in various categories.
The Senior teams competed in Showcase divisions in Pom, Hip Hop & Kick.
“Our goal is to try to secure a spot in finals in each category, which is tough, and we have never done in the history of the program,” Coach Molly Reinhart, Director New Ulm Just For Kix said. “This year they finaled in every single category.”
Showcase divisions are very similar to how state high school dance team runs. They had Pom and Hip Hop on Thursday, May 1. Both teams made it into the finals for the first time in program history.

“They medal the top 3, and Pom was ranked4, and Hip Hop ranked 5, this is out of 19 teams, so it’s pretty incredible,” said Reinhart.
On Friday, the largest showcase took place in the Kick category. They again made it into finals and medaled, earning their spot as second place AA National Champions.
“This was the most surreal feeling, going from never even making it into finals in any category ever, to making it in every single one (top 5 at that), then going home with medals around our neck as second place AA National Champions,” Reinhart said.
This was particularly special as there are 18 graduating Seniors on the team this year.
“It was one heck of a way to go out,” said Reinhart.
