Leslie will join New Ulm School board

Incumbents Ringhofer, Dewanz, and Schiro reelected to board

NEW ULM – Incumbent New Ulm School Board members Matt Ringhofer, Christie Dewanz and Jonathan Schiro were reelected Tuesday, along with new board member Sarah Leslie.

Before the election even began it was known that at least one new face would be joining the New Ulm School board. Four school board seats were up for vote this election. Three of the incumbents; Dewanz, Ringhofer and Schiro chose to run again for their board seats, but current board member Denny Waloch chose not to seek another term. This guaranteed at least one open seat this election cycle.

Along with the three incumbents seeking re-election, Sarah Leslie and Paula Humbard filed for candidacy creating a five-person candidate pool. Voters were asked to vote for four candidates in the elections. The four candidates with the highest vote total would join the school board in 2025.

Ringhofer received the most votes with 6,408. Dewanz took second with 6,305 votes. Schiro with 5,757 votes. Leslie received 5,568 votes, enough to get on the board.

Humbard came up short of joining the board, receiving 4,578 votes.

Ringhofer, Dewanz, Schiro and Leslie will rejoin.

Starting at $4.38/week.
