Mayor Klukas running for reelection unopposed
GIBBON — Two Gibbon Ciity Council
seats and the mayor’s seat are open in the
November general election.

Zangel filed for election. Mayor Steve Klukas
is running unopposed.
Hartmann said he feels the city council
has accomplished a lot the past several years
and he looks forward to the future of Gibbon.
“It’s been an honor, rewarding, challenging
and interesting, all in one. The main
project and goal is to make Gibbon appealing,
to attract businesses and new residents,”
said Hartmann.
He said business owners have done well
in improving building appearances and creating
events attracting people to town.
“With the new GFW (Gibbon Fairfax
Winthrop) school being built, we can expect
and hope new residents and businesses will
follow. The City of Gibbon needs to look
into the future and prepare new lots of building
homes,” Hartmann said.
He said he’s like to hear new ideas for the
old elementary school before it is unusable.
“My project of passion is to renovate the
hold city hall building or at least keep it so
rain and snow doesn’t destroy it.

returned to his hometown and bought the
Gibbon bowling alley. His hobbies are running
and to-do lists. Hartmann’s wife Ann
owns “The Homeplace” arts and crafts store
in downtown Gibbon.
Lifetime Gibbon resident Dave Theis
and his wife Terry retired from the City of
Gibbon in 2021. He now grows corn, soybeans
and raises swine with his wife Terry,”I was approached by a city council member
who asked me to file for office. I see this
as an opportunity to give back to the community
that supported my family and I for many
years. I’ve witnessed city leadership work hard
to better this small community for the benefit
of the whole community,” Theis said.
He enjoys yardwork, landscape projects
and traveling.
Originally from New Ulm, Shannon Zangel
is a general contractor who owns Zangel
Construction, which does everthing from
frame to finish houses and additions.
“I like the community. They’re very
welcoming and tight-knit. The way they’ve
embraced me speaks volumes. I want to be
part of this community. I want to bring my
background and experience,” he said.
