Cheerful frenzy for the Funny Bunny Games

Chloe Johnson guides her bunny Blueberry Muffin through the Bunny Obstacle Course.

The third annual Funny Bunny Games, put on by 4-H took place on Saturday at the Brown County Fair. Allysa Kelton cited lighthearted horse shows as her source of inspiration for a similar type of event for bunnies.

“Horses had a fun show after their serious one, and I wanted something fun for the bunny kids to do as well. This is a way to show the bond that the kids have with their pets.”

The Funny Bunny Games had a variety of entertaining events for the bunnies to participate in. To kick off the event was the obstacle course, which consisted of a ramp, tunnel, and ring of fire. Many bunnies opted to go around the obstacles, while others leisurely enjoyed the view from the ramp. One bunny name Snickers completed the course fastest in 18 seconds.

Following the obstacle course was a bunny costume contest, with the winner being decided by crowd cheers. Although every bunny had a terrific costume, with costumes ranging from “Goldiflops” to “The King Of All Rabbits” the winner was a bunny Peanut, dressed as a businessman.

A series of races took place after the costume contest. An overall Rabbit Race occurred, where bunnies would have to run from one end of the track to another. The quickest time was Taylor Wyczawski’s bunny namedLuna, who completed the race in 7.73 seconds. The other two races were relay races, separated into a Doe Relay Race and Buck Relay race. Bunnies worked in pairs to see which duo could complete the track the fastest. Bunnies Pepsi and Luna won the Doe race in 30.97 seconds, while Huckleberry and Puck won the Buck race in 13.54 seconds.

Event winners were announced once the games were completed, as was the Fan Favorite Winning Rabbit, awarded a rabbit named Ash.

Wyczawski, winner of both the Rabbit Race and Doe relay gave insight into her bunny Luna’s victories.

“Luna is really fast and she feels safe with me, so I go down to the end of the course and she runs to me.”
