Local school board, city government spots opening
NEW ULM – Candidate filing periods to run for several local school boards and city governments open Tuesday.
From July 30 to August 13, people can file for seats in these offices. This includes New Ulm and Sleepy Eye School Boards.
New Ulm School Board has four of its seven seats up for election this year. They are currently held by Christie Dewanz, Treasurer Matt Ringhofer, Vice Chair Jonathan Schiro, and Denny Waloch. All of them are eligible to run again.
Dewanz and Waloch were uncommitted on whether they will run again, with Dewanz saying she was somewhat leaning toward doing so. Ringhofer said he had to mull it over, but was pretty sure he will run again. Schiro said he will be running again.
Candidates must file at the district offices in the New Ulm Middle School. The offices are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Candidates will need to fill out the affidavit of candidacy available at https://www.sos.state.mn.us/media/1027/affidavit-of-candidacy.pdf and pay $2.
