Two die Oct. 21 in county road crash
BIRD ISLAND — Two individuals died in a two-vehicle crash reported at 9:51 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at the intersection of Renville County Roads 4 and 5 about six miles south of Bird Island.
Dean Schroeder, 62, Renville; and Emily Didier, 22, Lanesboro, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. Schroeder was driving a 1999 Mack 600 tractor truck southbound on CR 5 that collided with a 2011 Nissan Altima driven westbound on CR 4 by Didier.
There were no passengers in either vehicle other than a dog in Didier’s vehicle that did not have apparent significant injuries. It was released to family members.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Bird Island Fire and Medical Response units, Olivia Ambulance, Fire and Tactical Response Team, Kandiyohi Tactical Response Team and the Renville County Highway Department assisted. The crash is being investigated by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
