New Ulm Municipal Band joins with Meire Grove for beautiful music at Paramount Theatre

New Ulm Municipal Band and Meire Grove Community Band take the stage together at the Paramount Theatre in St. Cloud.

ST. CLOUD — The New Ulm Municipal Band and the Meire Grove Community Band played together at the historic Paramount Theatre Tuesday.

The Meire Grove Band is the oldest continuously playing community band in Minnesota and has been inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. The band is celebrating their 140th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Meire Grove reached out to New Ulm Municipal band to collaberate on a joint concert. The two bands each performed separate hour-long sets at the Paramount Theatre before coming performing together as a group.

The two bands combined form an 80-peice band to end the concert. Together the bands played “Them Basses” by G.H. Huffine and “Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.

The two bands hope to follow-up with another joint concert in 2024, which could include Meire Grove Community Band visiting New Ulm.

Starting at $4.50/week.
