NEW ULM — The Original German Band of New Ulm will open the German Park summer concert series with a 7 p.m. performance Monday.

Organized in 1985 as an offspring of Heritagefest, the band plays authentic European music sourced from sheet music collected over many years by band coordinator Denny Warta.

In addition, the band attempts to keep alive the wonderful sounds that emanated from the great folk music bands for which New Ulm became nationally renowned.

Original German Band of New Ulm members inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame based in New Ulm are John Arsers, Leroy “Slivers” Dewanz, John Henle, Roman Kahle and Steve Moran.

Monday night summer concerts are free and open to the public.
