The Frederickson Band plays for a crowd at Shirley's Park. Their style of music is polka and old-time country.

NEW ULM– Shirley’s Park & Country Retreat held its Memorial Music in the Park event for its third year Sunday.

The event featured Andrea Lynn, a country and folk Americana singer, and the Frederickson Band, an old-time polka/country music band.

Brian Domeier, owner of Shirley’s, created the event to rekindle memories of people who came in the past.

“This used to be a park that was enjoyed by people 50 years ago as a picnic destination and a place to have music and enjoy time together and kind of be a community.”

Domeier said “And so I thought that it’d be really neat to preserve that nostalgia.”
