NEW ULM — Saturday was prom night with New Ulm High School and Minnesota Valley Lutheran (MVL) both holding school dances.

New Ulm High School held a tribute to the ’70s with a “Disco Fever” themed prom, though few students wore crushed velvet tuxedos. Over 130 couples took part in NUHS’s grand march.

MVL held its prom at Turner Hall with the theme “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Nearly 40 couples participated in the grand march.

In 2022, NUHS and MVL held their proms during a downpour, preventing students from taking outside photos. Early in the day, it looked like rain would fall on another prom night, but the weather cooperMVL held their proms during a ated. Dozens of students visited German Park for pre-prom photos. Even a few students from the neighboring GFW district paid a visit before returning to their prom in Winthrop.
