Family facilitators receive state award

NEW ULM — Brown County Human Services family facilitators received the Minnesota Social Service Association (MSSA) Community Collaboration Award at the Celebration for Excellence Ceremony in Minneapolis March 15.

Family facilitators Sandi Koop, Jennifer Winters, Kami Castleman and Kristen Forstner were nominated by their supervisor Denise Kamm. Last fall, the group won a regional award before they were chosen state winners.

Family facilitators work with school districts to assist children and families to be successful in school, at home and in the community using prevention and early intervention services including community resource connection, service coordination, in-home services and summer activities.

The free program supports anyone in need experiencing difficulty with parenting, family changes, discipline/behavior, social/emotional issues and communication.
