SSTC holding auditions for ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

NEW ULM — State Street Theater will be hosting open auditions for its upcoming production of “Much Ado About Nothing” by William Shakespeare, a comedy about misunderstandings, love and deception.

In “Much Ado About Nothing,” young lovers Hero and Claudio fall in love while nobleman Don Pedro schemes to trick Hero’s quick-witted cousin Beatrice to fall in love with her nemesis, the avowed bachelor, Benedick. Mistaken identities and comical trickery ensues, leaving the characters to determine who is being true, and who is taking part in deceit. The performances will take place Friday through Sunday, June 9-11.

Auditions for Much Ado About Nothing will be held on Saturday, April 1, 9 a.m., and Wednesday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. on the State Street Theater stage. Nothing needs to be prepared in advance of the auditions. There are many roles available for both men and women, ages 18 and older. Actors of all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to audition. State Street Theater is located at 1 N State Street, New Ulm. Enter through back parking lot door #7 on the Washington Street side of the site.
