NEW ULM — Figure skating fans were losing their heads over The New Ulm Figure Skating Club’s performance of “Alice in Wonderland” on ice.

The NUFSC holds an annual ice show every year. This year the club chose to adapt “Alice in Wonderland” for the ice show and it proved popular. The Saturday afternoon performance saw the highest attendance at an ice show in several years.

Director Katrina Berbrich said the stands were packed with spectators. She estimated at least 400 people came to the first performance. Many younger kids returned to see the show a second time on Sunday.

“Alice on Ice” was split into individual chapters, just like the book, with club members cast in various roles. This production also featured several fun sets and props that were moved onto the ice. The show even features an elaborate Caterpillar costume that is worn by multiple skaters in a segmented costume.

For those unable to see show, the production was recorded by New Ulm Cable Access Television and air on the channel at later time.

Starting at $4.50/week.
