NEW ULM — It was a snow day across the region and many kids and some parents took advantage of the occasion.
The South German Park hill was the place to be for sledding. A few dozens kids took to the hill. Since the snow was perfect for packing, it was not long before kids constructed sled ramps.
Aiden Wieland and Jett Volk practiced their snowboarding skills by building ramps with the snow. Volk said the snow was easy to pack, but it made it difficult to slide on their boards.
Many of the sledder were only able to make it halfway down the hill before the snow stopped them. Still, it did not block the kids from trying.
A few adults got into the fun. Steve Smith and Chris Bowman recently moved to the area from Arizona and this was their first blizzard.
