Suspect identified in Nicollet County chase

ST. PETER — Nicollet County authorities are preparing charges against a suspect in chase who fled a Nicollet County patrol sergeant in Lafayette on Nov. 2 in what turned out to be a stolen vehicle.

On Nov. 2, the Nicollet Co. Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint in Lafayette. A Nicollet County patrol sergeant located the vehicle. The vehicle fled when the sergeant tried to pull it over. The short pursuit went through some residents’ yards. The suspect jumped out of the still-moving vehicle, and the sergeant has to use his squad car to prevent the vehicle from hitting a residence.

It was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from a rural Brown County residence.

A suspect has been identified, but formal charges have not been filed, according to a Nicollet County press release.
