Field crowded for New Ulm School Board

NEW ULM — Six candidates have filed for the District 88 School Board election, with the filing period set to close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

This year, three board members are up for election: Steve Gag, Amanda Groebner and Melissa Sunderman.

During the election, voters will be asked to select three candidates from the list of those that have filed as candidates.

As of Monday, Aug. 15, all three incumbents Steve Gag, Melissa Sunderman and Amanda Groebner have filed to appear on the ballot and will be joined by new candidates Jo-el Flitter, Gigi (Germaine) Rysdahl and Michael Thom.

Anyone who wants to appear on the ballot for the District 88 School Board must file at the District Office located at New Ulm’s Middle School. Candidates are advised to enter the building through Door 1.

Affidavits of candidacy must be received by the district before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The School Board election will be part of the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
