Body found in rural Nicollet house fire
NICOLLET COUNTY — Firefighters found human remains inside a rural Nicollet County residence early Wednesday morning several miles south of Nicollet.
Nicollet County dispatch was advised by a Nicollet County Public Works employee of a fully engulfed house fire at 4:21 a.m. off CR 23 and 461st Avenue. As the fire that destroyed most of the house was being suppressed, firefighters found human remains inside the residence.
Identification of the remains is pending a full autopsy, according to the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting agencies included Nicollet, Lake Crystal, South Bend, Courtland and North Mankato Fire Departments, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Nicollet County Public Works, the Minnesota Fire Marshall’s Office and Xcel Energy.
