DFL holding contactless caucuses this year

BROWN COUNTY — The Brown County Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party will hold contactless precinct caucuses this year to protect the health of participants.

Those wishing to participating the Brown County’s DFL caucus may visit dfl.org/caucus and fill out the Precinct Caucus Non-Attendee Form and, if they choose, a Resolution Form. These forms will allow caucus-goers to run to be delegates to future endorsing conventions and submit resolutions to the DFL Party’s Action Agenda.

The website has a Caucus Finder to learn where to submit forms. The forms can be sent by email or printed and drop off on caucus night.

Each local unit will have an in-person drop box for forms that will be open from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM on the evening of precinct caucuses, Tuesday, Feb. 1.

“The DFL Party’s contactless caucuses will protect the health of Minnesotans while preserving the grassroots democracy at the heart of our party which our caucuses embody,” DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin said “Now, everyone from seasoned advocates to Minnesotans new to politics can safely help shape the future of our movement and take the first steps in deciding which candidates our party endorses.”

Throughout Brown County, caucus participants can submit their forms to Lori Sellner at lorisell@gmail.com anytime between now and February 1 at 9pm.

Forms can also be dropped off at the New Ulm Community Center, 600 N. German on February 1 between 6:30 and 9pm where volunteers will be available to receive them.

Brown County DFL caucus participants are reminded to indicate on their form if they would like to be a delegate to the March 19 county convention. In most circumstances, there are enough delegate slots available to ensure everyone in a precinct who runs to be a county delegate gets elected. In precincts where there are more people who want to be delegates to the county convention than are allowed, there will be a separate meeting scheduled later to determine the delegates.
