Schools closing in anticipation of Friday storm

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for central, south central and southeast Minnesota for Friday, including Brown County, from 9 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. Heavy snow with accumulations of 9 to 13 inches are predicted, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Area school districts are closing on Friday, including Comfrey, New Ulm Public, Minnesota Valley Lutheran, Riverbend Education District, Lafayette Charter School Sleepy Eye and Madelia. GFW is holding a virtual learning day, and Springfield is holding a flex learning day.
