Sherwin Linton to perform ‘The Johnny Cash Story’ at State Street Theater

Linton

NEW ULM — Acclaimed Johnny Cash tribute musician Sherwin Linton will perform “The Johnny Cash Story” on Friday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at State Street Theater Co., 1 North State Street, New Ulm.

In 1975 while performing in the grandstand of the South Dakota State Fair, Johnny Cash invited Sherwin Linton on stage, then removed his boots and gave them to Sherwin. “Try ’em on,” he said, and then asked, “How do they fit?” Sherwin said, “I could never fill your shoes, Johnny.” “Oh yes you can,” Cash replied.

Sherwin Linton has been filling those shoes ever since with the Johnny Cash Tribute band that includes a talented group of musicians – the “Cotton Kings band”- and features wife Pam, singing the songs of June Carter and The Carter Family as Sherwin tells “The Johnny Cash Story.” With Sherwin’s in-depth knowledge of Cash’s life history and 60 career years of performing, it is no wonder Johnny Cash personally endorsed Sherwin to tell, “The Johnny Cash Story.”

Prior to the performance, State Street Theater is hosting a Nashville Night Out – a Man in Black meet & greet at the Starkeller Honky Tonk featuring Sherwin and Pam Linton. Advance registration is required. $30 per person includes snacks and a beer. Seating is limited so reserve your spot today by contacting info@statestreettheater.org or 507-359-9990.
