NEW ULM — Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School participated virtually in the Scarlet Invitational speech meet Feb. 20 hosted by Mankato West High School.

Nick Pleiss and Andy Muske received 7th while Nicole Schumann and Emma Niebuhr earned 6th in varsity duo interpretation. Emma Niebuhr also won 1st in varsity extemporaneous reading. Other varsity finalists include Caleb Tomhave who received 6th in original oratory and Maggie Spike who placed 7th in poetry interpretation.

A number of novice competitors were also in the finals, including Joseph Schroeder (4th, great speeches), Rachel Boehlke (3rd, poetry), Mary Niebuhr (2nd, poetry), and Dora Grubbs (1st, poetry).
