Nuvera begins scholarship applicant search

In addition to the R.T. Rodenberg Memorial Scholarships presented annually to seniors in the communities it serves, Nuvera has begun a search for candidates for a one-time $2,000 scholarship from the Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation.

To be eligible for the six general scholarships, applicants must be attending post-secondary education at a university, college, or technical college; be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant’s family must subscribe to at least one service from Nuvera.

To be eligible for the $2,000 Jon Tollefson Technology Scholarship, applicants must be majoring in either Telecommunications or Information Technology (IT) at a university, college, or technical college and be a Minnesota resident.

A telecom alliance panel reviews each application and selects the finalists based on applicants’ grades, academic achievements and extra-curricular activities. Preference to receive the scholarships is given to students who have an interest in telecommunications technology and rural communities.

Students and their families can obtain more information by contacting their school’s guidance counselor, Nuvera, or by going to: mnta.org/resource/resmgr/forms/MTA-Scholarship-Form-2021.pdf.

“We’re happy to have this chance to make an investment in our community by helping young people get a technical or college education,” says Nuvera President and CEO, Glenn Zerbe. “It makes us all proud when one of the statewide winners is selected from our area.”

Applications must be submitted to Nuvera, Attn: Beth Vavra, 27 N. Minnesota, New Ulm, MN 56073 by February 19.
