GFW supt. comments on referendum results

GIBBON FAIRFAX WINTHROP – GFW Superintendent Jeff Horton commented on Tuesday’s operating levy referendum question unofficial voting results that showed it was approved by a vote of 1,370 to 825.

“We are excited and humbled by the preliminary, unofficial results,” Horton said in a media release. “The referendum appears to have passed by a solid majority. We are eternally grateful to our community for this affirmation of our needs. Students will benefit from this investment for years. Thank you for you support.”

Horton said he looks forward to seeing the final, unofficial results late Thursday or Friday, once the final mail in ballots are counted.

“We recognize that not everyone voted in this election, and not everyone voted ‘yes,’ Horton said. “We believe there is common ground in supporting the needs of our children among all of our residents. We look forward to engaging the community through the upcoming strategic planning process, which will inform the school district about it’s direction into the future.”
