SE City Council OKs lot sale regulations

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye City Council called for first or second readings of lot sale ordinances in Sleepy Hollow Addition Tuesday.

Dennis and Sharon Fromm offered $96,000 for three Elm Street N.E. lots. They intend to divide the three lots into five, 77 feet by 150 feet each, in order to make them more affordable to potential buyers and more comparable with existing lots.

“It is our intention to build attractive buildings following the covenant guidelines, and sell them,” read an Aug. 5 letter from the Fromms to City Manager Bob Elston and the Sleepy Eye City Council.

The Fromms offered $24,000 for a Birch Street N.E. lot with water and sewer hookups. The lot is across the street from a lot recently bought by Tom and Allie Hillescheim.

The city council also unanimously approved:

* A $32,000 offer by Tom and Diane Stoks for Lot 1, Block 4 of the Sleepy Hollow 5th Addition.

* Selling lot 2, Block 4 of the Sleepy Hollow 5th Addition to Brian and Michelle Strate.

* Conditional use permits for the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary to build a three by four foot sign on an eight-foot pole near their facility; and to allow recreational vehicle indoor storage space rental on Tamara Miller-Como’s property.

* Demolition of a 412 Maple St. S.W. residence. Demolition costs estimated at about $9,000 would be assessed to the property.
