NU woman faces five drug charges
NEW ULM — A 25-year-old New Ulm woman faces five drug charges after she was arrested at the Econo Lodge June 26.
Katie A. Rehbein, 711 German St. N., was charged in Brown County District Court Monday with a narcotic sale, drug possession, and the possession of drug paraphernalia. Some charges are felonies and others misdemeanors.
Rehbein’s bail was set at $10,000 without conditions Tuesday. A court appearance was set for 8:30 a.m., July 14.
According to court documents, Brown County Probation received an anonymous call about Rehbein, who is on probation, being at the Econo Lodge.
Probation and law enforcement went to the Econo Lodge and smelled a marijuana odor coming from Rehbein’s room. The room was hazy and smelled strongly of marijuana.
Law enforcement recognized a witness who turned over a glass pipe for smoking marijuana, a zip lock bag with marijuana that later weighed 4.6 grams and an edible marijuana snack that resembled a cookie and weighed 25 grams.
Probation did a search and found a small bag containing a crystal-like substance from a toilet roll wrapper, a plastic bag with what appeared to be methamphetamine. A loose crystal-like substance in the plastic wrapper weighed 1.1 grams. A crystal-like substance in another bag weighed .4 grams.
Probation found a meth pipe in Rehbein’s purse. An oval tin container contained a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Rehbein was arrested and the probation search stopped.
Law enforcement applied for a search warrant that was approved. Items found included a glass methamphetamine pipe, metal marijuana pipe, methamphetamine colored lines and residue, a butane torch and bottle of butane. The total weight of meth found was 2.4 grams.
