SLEEPY EYE — A parade in Sleepy Eye on Saturday, May 16, dubbed a Celebration of Life Parade, was held to help Karmela Krenz on her upcoming birthday. Karmi is the granddaughter of Larry and Kathy Krenz and daughter of Jeff and Nichole Krenz. She loves princesses and wanted a princess birthday party. Since that was not possible, Nichole came up with the idea of an actual parade. The family decided to invite all Sleepy Eye Royalty over the years who have helped with the Krenz’s Elves Christmas Village event through Krenz Real Estate. All accepted the invitation, including the 2020 Royalty. The famiy then decided to invte Karmela’s pre-school friends, her godmother from Minneapolis, some businesses, and the Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary’s graduates to join.

Mayor Wayne Pelzel made a proclamation about this day being a day to celebrate life. The parade was titled “Celebration of Life – during Covid-19”.
