Brown Co. Historical Society benefits from Hy-Vee bag sales

NEW ULM — Throughout the month of May, the Brown County Historical Society will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 red “My Heart’ Reusable Bag at the Hy-Vee store located at 2015 South Broadway Street, New Ulm.

“In this time of uncertainty due to COVID-19, supporting local non-profits has never been more important,” said Kim Como, Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program Manager. “That is why the Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program will continue as planned. Though Hy-Vee has asked shoppers not to bring reusable bags to the store, Red “My Heart” Bags are still available for purchase for use at a later date. Supermarkets are still busy, and shoppers are buying Red “My Heart” Bags as a way to give back in this time when the work of non-profits is more important than ever.”

The Brown County Historical Society has been selected as a beneficiary for the month of May in the Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program that supports local non-profits. The Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program, which launched in November 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities customers live and work.

The BCHS was selected as the May beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Hy-Vee located in New Ulm, MN. The BCHS will receive a $1 donation every time a $2.50 red “My Heart” Reusable Bag is purchased at this location during May, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“Proceeds from this fund raiser with help the BCHS carry out its mission to, “Collect, Preserve and Interpret the Rich History of Brown County. We are excited to be selected as the beneficiary of this program during the month of May,” said, Kathleen Backer, BCHS Executive Director.
