LCS competes in LEGO League Regional Tournament

Students from Lafayette Charter School traveled to Victoria, MN to compete in the regional FLL tournament. The competition includes a robot game, where students build and program a LEGO robot to solve challenges on a 4’ x 8’ playing field. The team presented their robot designs in front of judges, and had to explain their design process and how the programs worked. The team received an Innovation Award for their ideas. There is also a community project where the team needs to solve a problem in our community. This year the team focused on the lack of hands-on building and designing activities for kids in rural areas. The team’s solution is to start cardboard battlebot and homemade Beyblade competitions. Kids can build at home with minimal tools required, and compete once or twice a month at school.
