Flooding the rink
Ed Tietel with the Park and Recreation Department adds a layer of water to the Harman Park ice skating rink. The Parks Department began flooding the the rinks at Harman Park early this week. Creating a flat skating surface takes multiple days. The first layer of ice must freeze before a second layer is added. Parks employee Nate Kral said it weather dependent. If a thaw comes in the next few days, it could take even longer to flood. If it stays cold, the rinks could be ready to go in a few days.
