NUMAS raising funds

Has 85%

success rate

NEW ULM — The public is invited to attend a fundraiser for NUMAS Haus 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the New Ulm Event Center.

Funds raised in the event go towards the NUMAS Haus, an emergency shelter with support services that assist homeless single women and children in Brown County.

Titled “Hope, a night of stories and music,” two ex-residents will share their stories. The event also includes a live musical performance by Christian artist Jason Gray.

The ex-residents are formerly homeless people and had stayed at NUMAS Haus for a 90 days before “getting back on their feet.”

The fundraiser begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour. It is followed by dinner at 6 p.m., hosted by Lola’s. A live auction follows at 7:15 p.m. with items that include a five-night stay for two in Belize from Tim and Kristi Loose, a gourmet dinner for six hosted by Lori and Marc Burkhart, a guided pheasant hunt with Tim Knaack, a wine tasting and dessert hosted by Kirk Smith and Duane Laffrenzen and a 12 inch by 36 inch panoramic print of Hermann the German donated by Foresee Studios.

Families live at NUMAS Haus for up to 90 days while they receive help in finding housing, employment, child care and other services.

“We appreciate all of the community’s support over the years,” NUMAS Haus Board of Directors Treasurer Bill Day said. “It’s going to be a wonderful event and we appreciate people coming and joining us.”

As of October, NUMAS has assisted and provided services to 37 women and 36 children in Brown County. In 2018, NUMAS had an 85% success rate for families that have found and maintained stable, permanent housing after completing the program.

Tickets for the fundraiser may be purchased at www.numashaus.org/gala/ or at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce.
