Nicollet Co. commissioners OK TH 111/22 rehab project

ST. PETER — Nicollet County commissioners agreed to proceed with three Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) intersection lighting agreements for the TH 111/22 2020 Rehabilitation Project July 9.

The state highway department will pay for the initial installation of the lighting systems. After construction, lighting system ownership, knock down repair and electrical costs are a county responsibility. Three paved county roads intersection with TH 111/TH 22 (CSAH 1, 5 and 15). Average monthly power costs are about $35.

Commissioners unanimously approved an agreement for the CSAH 14 slope slide issue, motion by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Kolars. It allows MnDOT to be Nicollet County’s agent in accepting federal funds on the County’s behalf and assign roles and responsibilities for MnDOT and the County.

Federal funds will fund 80 percent preliminary engineering costs, estimated at $160,000 to investigate and develop a remediation plan for the slope failure.
