Benches speak

NEW ULM–Soon the benches in downtown New Ulm will be informative as well as convenient.

Wednesday, Sid and Jane DeLeo (above) of Sid’s Signs began installing historic plaques on benches in the district. The signs gave information about historic places throughout the community.

These markers were commissioned by the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce. The idea of the plaques is to help visitors to New Ulm locate items of interest in the community.

At this time there are 21 plaques ready for installation. The first were attached to benches at 3rd North and Minnesota Streets.
